"Cities by the sea / Re-imagine the Mediterranean"
Our 2025 open call is designed to inspire artists to engage with themes surrounding urban life along the coast. The program encourages reflection on the challenges posed by climate change and aims to raise awareness about the environmental, social, and cultural dynamics of coastal cities. By exploring these evolving contexts, we invite artists to re-imagine the Mediterranean—its landscapes, its communities, and the issues that shape its future. This call is an invitation to creatively investigate and respond to the complex relationship between urban living and the natural world.
The open call theme is not restrictive, instead it works as a basic concept for artists to freely explore, research and express their own impressions and ideas during their residency from their experience of living in an always evolving Mediterannean urban city by the Aegean sea.
The environment itself exists as a living canvas that sparks imagination to create thought-provoking installations, paintings, performances or mixed media works that prompt viewers to re-evaluate their relationship with nature and seek to raise awareness about environmental issues and inspire activism and change.
Our programs provide artists with the chance to fully engage in their artistic journey, connect with fellow creatives, showcase their work, and explore exciting possibilities for future collaborations—all while experiencing the stunning combination of coastal charm, mountain vistas, and the eclectic mix of rural and urban life.
