"Cities by the sea / Re-imagine the Mediterranean"
Our new annual open call aims to inspire artists with themes
of urban living by the sea, the issues that arise from the climate change and grow awareness on environmental, social and cultural contexts from the always evolving world around us.
The open call theme is not restrictive, instead it works as a basic concept for artists to freely explore, research and express their own impressions and ideas during their residency from their experience of living in an always evolving Mediterannean urban city by the Aegean sea.
The environment itself exists as a living canvas that sparks imagination to create thought-provoking installations, paintings, performances or mixed media works that prompt viewers to re-evaluate their relationship with nature and seek to raise awareness about environmental issues and inspire activism and change.
Our programs give artists the chance to practice their art form, meet new people, promote their work and create possible future collaboration, while enjoying their holidays in a beautiful environment that combines both sea, mountains, rural and urban life.
During the residency programs we offer artists optional day trips to historical landmarks of the area, museums, natural landscapes and islands. We also plan visits to creative studios and workshops run by local artists in order to enhance collaboration, creativity and turn your stay into a fun hollistic experience.
